Cisco Systems today has announced the additional of Ethernet interface Cards to its Aggregation Service Router 9000 that set a new Industry record for density.
Their new product call Cisco Ethernet ASR 9000, this new device will available couple month forward and it will features 16 10-gigabit-second Ethernet ports, for a total per-slot Ethernet capacity of 160 Gb/s. But the actual capacity, in practice, will be somewhat less. But Cisco Ethernet ASR 9000 puts it well north of 100 Gb/s. With that capacity Cisco Ethernet ASR 9000 would make the new cards the densest ones on the market.
