Gorilla Glass is an unscratchable, unshattered glass material who used on many electronic screens such as Laptop, Portable Media Player, mobile phone, and tablet(Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime). And recently Corning company has back with introducing a new Corning glass called Gorilla Glass 2, the 2nd generation of Gorilla Glass at International CES in Las Vegas this year.
According to the company, their 2nd generation glass Gorilla is up to 20 percent reduction in glass thickness. The new Corning glass still maintaining the industry-leading damage resistance, toughness, and scratch resistance. However, the Gorilla Glass 2 offers slimmer and sleeker devices, brighter images, and greater touch sensibility to provide high performance and durable for your electronic display.
Furthermore, Corning said many device manufacturers such as Acer, Asus and more will apply Gorilla Glass 2 for their gadgets this year. Microsoft also has confirmed that they will also use Gorilla Glass 2.0 on its broad range of devices, which have been designed for Window 8.
According to Corning, the durable Gorilla Glass has been in use in almost 600 different products and the revenue of the company in 2011 is expected to top $700 million, which is nearly triple 2010 result.
