Daimler Introduces Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive Emission-free Vehicle for 2013

Daimler AG, the German manufacturer of automobiles, motor vehicle, and engines has back with introducing its latest emission-free electric vehicle in brand of Mercedes-Benz. This new electric-powered vehicle named the SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive which has been showing up at the Paris Motor Show, and it claimed as the world’s fastest electric-powered series production vehicle.


The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive is a completely innovative and electrifying driving experience. It comes with four synchronous electric motors to provide maximum output of 552 kW and maximum torque of 1000 Nm. Taking full advantage of the fact that electrics have maximum torque when taking off. It can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and reach the maximum speeds of 250 km/h.


The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive powered by a 60kWH lithium-ion battery pack developed in cooperation between Mercedes-Benz’s AMG performance car division and its British-based High Performance Engines offshoot. The British unit developed the 2.4-liter V8 Formula One engine and KERS (kinetic-energy-recovery system) unit used by the Mercedes-Benz, McLaren and Force India teams.


The Emission free vehicle battery consists of 12 individual modules, each comprising 72 cells. On standard 230-volt European power takes up to 20 hours to fully charge the battery, and it can be reduced to three hours using an optional wall box, which 22kW quick charge.


The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive will finally go into production soon ahead of a release in June 2013 and will cost around 416,500 euros or about $535,554.
