I still remember when I was at senior high school, my father give me a gift “a bicycle with dynamo powered light” When I ride it at night I have to switch the dynamo on at my front wheel and when I begin to pedaled, the light is working. The faster you pedaled the brighter light you will got, but if you slow down and stop the light will dimmed and off.

Today at California a company called High Tide Associates has introduced a new technology “the RollerGen”. The RollerGen is Using the same concept to charge your portable electronics.

The RollerGen will bring out the power around 30 watts and all the power is stored in a small battery called BOS(bar of soap). This device is sits next to the the generator in a small rack over the rear wheel, and there is enough extra room for placing your electronics gadget. This BOS stored energy can be used to power any USB gadgets such as GPS unit, iPhone, iPod, and mobile phone.

It’s seem perfect when the weather is clear but how if you ride your bike and it suddenly rain. I wonder is this device is come with a waterproof cover or not. But if it not, is this device worth $495 for the complete system?
