LG Electronics its seem they are hiding their ultimate weapon at Consumer Electronics Show 2010, recently LG has just showing its flexible e-ink display which not shown at CES 2010.
The LG e-ink display comes with a 19-inch wide display which almost the same size as regular newspaper page and 0.3mm of thickness which slightly thicker than a piece of paper(about 0.06mm) with weight of 4.5 ounce weight you will feel a lot heavier than regular newspaper.
LG make a new innovation by mounting the e-ink screen on metal foil instead of the usual glass or plastic we’ve seen in other e-ink displays. It’s similar to the thicker Skiff display we saw at CES, which has a slightly flexible display mounted in a non-flexible reader.
LG’s big 19-inch prototype is obviously designed to capture our attention, but LG plans to actually mass produce smaller 11.5-inch flexible-ink displays by the end of June. According to LG Display cited DisplaySearch saying that the e-book market will grow from approximately US$370 million in 2009 to US$1.2 billion in 2011 and to US$1.73 billion in 2015. Unfortunately, there is no info about the price.
