Toyota Brain Wave Machine for Wheelchairs

Another three wheelchairs has developed by Toyota the Toyota Brain Wave machine for wheelchairs. This three wheel machine was developed by BSI-Toyota Collaboration center, and this is an advanced development of wheelchairs control machine system. This special machine with using brain as its unique controller.  Brain machine interface(BMI) utilizes blind signal separation and space-time-frequency filtering technology to analyze brain-waves in under 125 milliseconds.

Brain-wave analysis results are displayed on a panel so quickly that drivers do not sense any delay. The system has the capacity to adjust itself to the characteristics of each individual driver and thereby is able to improve the efficiency with which it senses the driver’s commands.

According to the them this three wheelchairs new system has been succeeded in having drivers correctly to give commands to their wheelchairs with accuracy achieved up to 95%, this is one of the highest result in the world.

BTCC was established in 2007 by RIKEN Corporation, an independent administrative institution as a collaborative project with Toyota Motor Corporation, Toyota Central R&D Labs and research institute.
